Kindergarten

This morning Noah left our house on a school bus. He didn't look back. With him he took his LL Bean backpack, Scooby Doo lunchbox, extra batteries, his cane, his magnifier, and his monocular. He took a "special" bus and his one on one paraprofessional will be with him all day but for the first time ever he's in a full inclusion situation. He still has a lot of needs and his IEP is still more than 60 pages, but I know that he can and will learn. Five years ago at this time we were dealing with mutiple surgeries and the threat of a trach. We weren't sure Noah would live long enough to see kindergarten, and yet here he is. I couldn't be more proud.

How did you luck out and find a school in VA that starts before Labor Day?!

Can't wait for an update. Hope he had a great first day.

Aw, this made me tear up. It is quite an accomplishment for some of our kids to get on that bus and go to school. You must be so proud! We're anticipating X's first time on a school bus and attending a daily oral deaf preschool program, which starts in two short weeks!

What a wonderful day!! He's becoming such a big boy now! and doing great!

I still get nervous about anthony starting kindergarten. i worry about his lack on words, how he gets overwhelmed with lots of children.... We still have another year or 2, but its in the back of mind already.

Emily, If you have the time would you please be able to email me sometime. My little one starts transitioning from Early Int. to prek and I'm freaking out. She has another ABR set up in 2 wks to let us know if her hearing has dipped more and her pressures are up and now is using her first precane. I am completely wigging out about the whole IEP here in Illinois. I have tons of professionals behind me, but no moms with children in similar ages. So if you could find the time, I would SO APPRECIATE IT!
Thank you, Ann
